The VIP Seniors Club was proud to support the evening as a Gold Sponsor.</p><figure id="figure-f7v67zaqdhmvo7mqip"><img id="f7v67zaqdhmvo7mqip" src="https://cdn.durable.co/blocks/1aHmDwbZbekAKVciwE5CvGWyZX87FySmDZtHX82X0FCBdiXRPC75J2hA3PPyb8Th.jpg" alt="Two VIP members in western hats at VNAcare Rodeo Bingo" title="Two VIP members in western hats at VNAcare Rodeo Bingo" class="object-cover bg-gray-100 rounded-sm md:rounded-md lg:rounded-lg" style="aspect-ratio: 16/9; object-position: undefined undefined;" data-corners="default" data-aspect="16:9" data-caption="" data-positionx="undefined" data-positiony="undefined" data-fullwidth="false" data-mce-src="https://cdn.durable.co/blocks/1aHmDwbZbekAKVciwE5CvGWyZX87FySmDZtHX82X0FCBdiXRPC75J2hA3PPyb8Th.jpg" data-mce-style="aspect-ratio: 16/9; object-position: undefined undefined;"></figure><p>It was a fantastic night out. Celebrating Senior Month at VIP Seniors Club Rancho Cucamonga

<p>The VIP Seniors Club Rancho Cucamonga brought a little tropical color to our community with a luau celebration filled with festive decorations, dancing, and time together. Colorful leis, bright prints, and tables full of familiar faces made it a cheerful gathering for our senior club.</p><figure id="figure-oblw6slmadmtq5on78"><img id="oblw6slmadmtq5on78" src="https://cdn.durable.co/blocks/1ep1iDmSFLZDPoFKLDxRsZPc1osRGWtcjByGmt66uXn3p3cxhvFmV9nXcwUUCw9q.jpg" alt="" title="" class="object-cover bg-gray-100 rounded-sm md:rounded-md lg:rounded-lg" style="aspect-ratio: 16/9; object-position: center center;" data-corners="default" data-aspect="16:9" data-caption="" data-positionx="undefined" data-positiony="undefined" data-fullwidth="false" data-mce-src="https://cdn.durable.co/blocks/1ep1iDmSFLZDPoFKLDxRsZPc1osRGWtcjByGmt66uXn3p3cxhvFmV9nXcwUUCw9q.jpg" data-mce-style="aspect-ratio: 16/9; object-position: center center;"></figure><p>From posing for photos to joining the dancing, guests brought their own personality to the celebration. The pictures capture the heart of VIP Seniors: people coming together, enjoying one another’s company, and making memories close to home.</p><h3><strong>Tropical Colors and Thoughtful Details</strong></h3><p>There was plenty to catch the eye throughout the room. Tables featured tropical decorations and colorful accents, while guests added to the theme with flower leis, patterned shirts, festive hats, and playful sunglasses.</p><figure id="figure-qcionvs37bmtq5x6eq"><img id="qcionvs37bmtq5x6eq" src="https://cdn.durable.co/blocks/2ejdAtuRu8anXGbj2Ja7JbTxwrbyB0SXUShupOaHAC8Z4vZb8M0TRsZCH83TlOyw.jpg" alt="" title="" class="object-cover bg-gray-100 rounded-sm md:rounded-md lg:rounded-lg" style="aspect-ratio: 16/9; object-position: center center;" data-corners="default" data-aspect="16:9" data-caption="" data-positionx="undefined" data-positiony="undefined" data-fullwidth="false" data-mce-src="https://cdn.durable.co/blocks/2ejdAtuRu8anXGbj2Ja7JbTxwrbyB0SXUShupOaHAC8Z4vZb8M0TRsZCH83TlOyw.jpg" data-mce-style="aspect-ratio: 16/9; object-position: center center;"></figure><p>A tropical photo backdrop, framed by balloons and bright flowers, offered a place to pause for a picture together. Nearby, an “Aloha” sign helped set the scene at the stage. These details gave the celebration a welcoming, lighthearted feel and made the photos especially fun to look back on.</p><figure id="figure-h5q3kgaecvmtq5wl9v"><img id="h5q3kgaecvmtq5wl9v" src="https://cdn.durable.co/covers/29G4xzggKK6KIMRKrOxfvDYtb8varzk51u4MnZ4OPkDAsui5KTg3BQXpYA8KPBD5.jpg" alt="" title="" class="object-cover bg-gray-100 rounded-sm md:rounded-md lg:rounded-lg" style="aspect-ratio: 16/9; object-position: center center;" data-corners="default" data-aspect="16:9" data-caption="" data-positionx="undefined" data-positiony="undefined" data-fullwidth="false" data-mce-src="https://cdn.durable.co/covers/29G4xzggKK6KIMRKrOxfvDYtb8varzk51u4MnZ4OPkDAsui5KTg3BQXpYA8KPBD5.jpg" data-mce-style="aspect-ratio: 16/9; object-position: center center;"></figure><p>The table pictures are just as memorable. Guests sat together with food and drinks, smiling for the camera and sharing the occasion. Some of the best moments at a club celebration happen right there, around a table with friends.</p><h3><strong>Making Room for Dancing and Friendship</strong></h3><p>The celebration also brought guests to the dance floor. Stars, Stripes & Senior Spirit: Our 2026 Fourth of July Celebration

<p>Triple-digit heat can become a medical emergency quickly, especially for adults aged 65 and older. During July 2026, Southern California expects extreme heat warnings with temperatures expected above 100°F and possible highs near 108°F. Inland Empire seniors, caregivers, family members, and neighbors should plan to stay in air-conditioned spaces, drink water regularly, and know the warning signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.</p><h3><strong>Why Older Adults Face Greater Heat Risk</strong></h3><p>According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, adults age 65 and older do not adjust as well as younger people to sudden temperature changes. Chronic health conditions can change how the body responds to heat, and some prescription medicines can affect sweating, hydration, or temperature control.</p><p>Risk can increase when someone lives alone, lacks reliable air conditioning, has limited mobility, or waits until they feel thirsty to drink. Humidity and warm nighttime temperatures can also make it harder for the body and the home to cool down.</p><h3><strong>Six Ways Inland Empire Seniors Can Stay Safer</strong></h3><ol><li><strong>Make air conditioning the priority</strong>. Spend the hottest part of the day in an air-conditioned home, library, community center, senior center, shopping center, or official cooling center. Do not rely on a fan as the main cooling source when indoor temperatures are very high.</li><li><strong>Drink water before you feel thirsty</strong>. Sip water throughout the day. If a doctor limits your fluids or you take water pills, ask how much you should drink during hot weather.</li><li><strong>Move plans to cooler hours.</strong> Schedule errands, walks, and outdoor appointments early in the morning or later in the evening. Avoid strenuous activity during the hottest afternoon hours.</li><li><strong>Dress for the heat. </strong>Wear loose, lightweight, light-colored clothing. Use a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and shade when you must be outdoors.</li><li><strong>Keep the home cooler.</strong> Close curtains or blinds during the hottest part of the day, avoid using the oven, take a cool shower or bath, and move to a cooler location if the home overheats.</li><li><strong>Use a heat buddy.</strong> Arrange for a friend, relative, caregiver, or neighbor to call or visit at least twice a day during severe heat. Check that the person has water, air conditioning, and no signs of heat stress.</li></ol><h3><strong>Know the Difference: Heat Exhaustion vs. Heat Stroke</strong></h3><p>Heat exhaustion needs prompt cooling and attention. Heat stroke is a life-threatening emergency. When in doubt—especially with confusion, fainting, or a very high body temperature—call 911.</p><table border="1" style="border-collapse: collapse; width: 100%;" data-mce-style="border-collapse: collapse; width: 100%;" data-mce-selected="1"><tbody><tr><th style="width: 12%; background-color: rgb(251, 238, 184);" data-mce-style="width: 12%; background-color: #fbeeb8;">Condition</th><th style="width: 33.3333%; background-color: #fbeeb8;" data-mce-style="width: 33.3333%; background-color: #fbeeb8;">Common Warning Signs</th><th style="width: 33.3333%; background-color: #fbeeb8;" data-mce-style="width: 33.3333%; background-color: #fbeeb8;">What To Do</th></tr><tr><th style="width: 12%;" data-mce-style="width: 12%;">Heat exhaustion</th><td style="width: 25px;" data-mce-style="width: 25px;">Heavy sweating; weakness; cool, pale or clammy skin; fast, weak pulse; cramps; dizziness; nausea; headache; fainting</td><td style="width: 33.3333%;" data-mce-style="width: 33.3333%;">Move to air conditioning, loosen clothing, apply cool wet cloths, and offer small sips of water if the person is conscious. Get medical help if vomiting occurs, symptoms worsen, or symptoms last longer than one hour.</td></tr><tr><th style="width: 12%; background-color: rgb(248, 202, 198);" data-mce-style="width: 12%; background-color: #f8cac6;">Heat stroke</th><td style="width: 33.3333%; background-color: rgb(248, 202, 198);" data-mce-style="width: 33.3333%; background-color: #f8cac6;">Confusion; slurred speech; severe headache; nausea; dizziness; hot red skin; rapid strong pulse; fainting; loss of consciousness; body temperature around 103°F or higher</td><td style="width: 33.3333%; background-color: rgb(248, 202, 198);" data-mce-style="width: 33.3333%; background-color: #f8cac6;"><strong>Call 911 immediately.</strong> Move the person to a cooler place and cool with wet cloths or a cool bath while help is coming. Do not give fluids.</td></tr></tbody></table><h3><strong>&nbsp;Medication and Health-Condition Check</strong></h3><p>Some medicines and health conditions can affect hydration or temperature control. Do not stop or change medication on your own. Before the next heat wave, ask a doctor or pharmacist whether any prescription or over-the-counter medicine changes your heat risk, fluid needs, or sun sensitivity.</p><p>People with heart, kidney, lung, or circulation conditions—and anyone with diabetes or limited mobility—may need a personalized heat plan. Caregivers should keep emergency contacts, medication lists, transportation options, and backup cooling locations easy to find.</p><h3><strong>Finding a Cool Place in the Inland Empire</strong></h3><p>Cooling-center locations and hours can change with each warning. Check official city and county pages on the day you plan to go. Libraries, senior centers, and community centers are often used as cooling spaces during severe heat.</p><p>Useful starting points include the City of Rancho Cucamonga Seniors page, the Southern California Edison Cooling Center locator, and the California Department of Aging heat-safety page. California’s Aging &amp; Adult Information Line is 800-510-2020 for local aging and disability-service information.</p><h3><strong>Our Community Can Save Lives</strong></h3><p>Extreme heat safety is a community responsibility. Knock on a neighbor’s door. Offer a ride to an air-conditioned location. A short check-in can uncover a broken air conditioner, an empty water supply, or early symptoms before the situation becomes an emergency.</p><p>The VIP Seniors Club Rancho Cucamonga encourages every member to make a simple summer plan: identify one cool place, choose one heat buddy, keep water nearby, and save emergency numbers before the next triple-digit day.</p><h3><strong>Frequently Asked Questions</strong></h3><p><strong>When should I call 911 for heat illness?</strong><br>Call 911 immediately for possible heat stroke, including confusion, slurred speech, fainting, loss of consciousness, hot red skin, a rapid strong pulse, or a body temperature around 103°F or higher.</p><p><strong>Is a fan enough during triple-digit heat?</strong><br>Not always. The CDC advises older adults not to rely on a fan as the main cooling source when it is very hot. Move to an air-conditioned location if the home cannot stay safely cool.</p><p><strong>How do I find a local cooling center?</strong><br>Check your city or county website, the Southern California Edison Cooling Center locator, or call the California Aging &amp; Adult Information Line at 800-510-2020. Confirm the location and hours before leaving home.</p>

Triple-Digit Heat in the Inland Empire: A Senior Safety Guide

<p>VIP Seniors recently brought members together for a joyful combined Mother’s Day and Father’s Day celebration, creating a warm afternoon filled with music, conversation, appreciation, and community connection.</p><p>Because the group was closed during Mother’s Day, VIP Seniors combined the celebration with Father’s Day, giving members the opportunity to honor both special occasions together. The result was a meaningful gathering that reflected the heart of VIP Seniors: providing welcoming senior activities, social connection, and a supportive environment where older adults can feel seen, valued, and included.</p><figure id="figure-sb8kin6cucmr80k0yi" class=""><img id="sb8kin6cucmr80k0yi" src="https://cdn.durable.co/blocks/33HNEkOCysBP8yMxLqTjY1A29GAKJKh3RHNnRgJAKel28WWvZW5od1jUvHHtQTgi.jpg" alt="" title="" class="object-cover bg-gray-100 rounded-sm md:rounded-md lg:rounded-lg" style="aspect-ratio: 16/9; object-position: center center;" data-corners="default" data-aspect="16:9" data-caption="" data-positionx="undefined" data-positiony="undefined" data-fullwidth="false" data-mce-src="https://cdn.durable.co/blocks/33HNEkOCysBP8yMxLqTjY1A29GAKJKh3RHNnRgJAKel28WWvZW5od1jUvHHtQTgi.jpg" data-mce-style="aspect-ratio: 16/9; object-position: center center;"></figure><h3>A Special Senior Celebration Honoring Mothers and Fathers</h3><p>Mother’s Day and Father’s Day can hold deep meaning for seniors and their families. These holidays often bring memories of parenting, caregiving, family traditions, and the many ways people support one another across generations.</p><p>By combining both holidays into one celebration, VIP Seniors created a space where members could honor mothers, fathers, grandparents, caregivers, family figures, and loved ones together. The event recognized the important roles seniors have played and continue to play in their families, neighborhoods, and communities.</p><figure id="figure-8tjk9xf80amr80mjky" class=""><img id="8tjk9xf80amr80mjky" src="https://cdn.durable.co/blocks/2fb9GkAhnBBpZUvybt7EYOERORjrsx9rCfXtyGuUc69JYGuoUEc8jyBOJrXP6Hkp.jpg" alt="" title="" class="object-cover bg-gray-100 rounded-sm md:rounded-md lg:rounded-lg" style="aspect-ratio: 16/9; object-position: center center;" data-corners="default" data-aspect="16:9" data-caption="" data-positionx="undefined" data-positiony="undefined" data-fullwidth="false" data-mce-src="https://cdn.durable.co/blocks/2fb9GkAhnBBpZUvybt7EYOERORjrsx9rCfXtyGuUc69JYGuoUEc8jyBOJrXP6Hkp.jpg" data-mce-style="aspect-ratio: 16/9; object-position: center center;"></figure><p>The celebration was simple, heartfelt, and community-focused. Members had the chance to relax, enjoy one another’s company, and take part in an afternoon designed to make everyone feel welcome.</p><h3>Music and Singalong with Ms. Vicki</h3><p>One of the highlights of the day was a singalong with Ms. Vicki on the keyboard. Music has a special way of bringing people together, especially in a group setting where familiar songs can spark memories, smiles, and participation.</p><figure id="figure-hh7po4x45mr80nek6" class=""><img id="hh7po4x45mr80nek6" src="https://cdn.durable.co/blocks/2dWCcnYSQkDtf2ArDEQljHmuOWYfhJiabVG7MyrALHNnHzTHeiVeYBRqwLO13Fj2.jpg" alt="" title="" class="object-cover bg-gray-100 rounded-sm md:rounded-md lg:rounded-lg" style="aspect-ratio: 1/1; object-position: 50% 35%;" data-corners="default" data-aspect="1:1" data-caption="" data-positionx="50%" data-positiony="35%" data-fullwidth="false" data-mce-src="https://cdn.durable.co/blocks/2dWCcnYSQkDtf2ArDEQljHmuOWYfhJiabVG7MyrALHNnHzTHeiVeYBRqwLO13Fj2.jpg" data-mce-style="aspect-ratio: 1/1; object-position: 50% 35%;"></figure><p>With Ms. Vicki leading from the keyboard, members were able to sing along and enjoy the shared energy of live music. The singalong added a joyful and personal touch to the event, reminding everyone that some of the best community moments come from simple experiences: a song, a smile, and a room full of people enjoying the moment together. </p><h3>Gifts, Refreshments, and Thoughtful Details</h3><p>Another special part of the celebration was the giving of gifts. According to Joyce Jacobson, gifts were provided for all attendees.&nbsp; Small gestures like these matter. They remind members that they are appreciated and remembered. A gift does not have to be extravagant to be meaningful. What matters most is the care behind it.</p><figure id="figure-jan1hq2zpomr80r28t" class=""><img id="jan1hq2zpomr80r28t" src="https://cdn.durable.co/blocks/38ADLmn75wI7dL1FVaVw8Gc1eEn3FodZyiFSMMe8D64HTHL071AIX4Q9zr0YajMh.jpg" alt="" title="" class="object-cover bg-gray-100 rounded-sm md:rounded-md lg:rounded-lg" style="aspect-ratio: 16/9; object-position: center center;" data-corners="default" data-aspect="16:9" data-caption="" data-positionx="undefined" data-positiony="undefined" data-fullwidth="false" data-mce-src="https://cdn.durable.co/blocks/38ADLmn75wI7dL1FVaVw8Gc1eEn3FodZyiFSMMe8D64HTHL071AIX4Q9zr0YajMh.jpg" data-mce-style="aspect-ratio: 16/9; object-position: center center;"></figure><p>The celebration also included refreshments and time for members to visit with one another.&nbsp; These moments of conversation and shared time are an important part of building a stronger senior community.</p><h3>Why Senior Community Events Matter</h3><p>Events like this combined Mother’s Day and Father’s Day celebration show why local senior programs are so valuable. Social connection plays an important role in quality of life, and gatherings like these help create a sense of routine, friendship, and belonging.</p><p>VIP Seniors offers more than activities. It creates a place where seniors can come together, participate, laugh, sing, learn, and share time with others. For many members, these events provide something to look forward to and a meaningful way to stay connected.</p><figure id="figure-pjk2elk6smr80us6x"><img id="pjk2elk6smr80us6x" src="https://cdn.durable.co/blocks/350FYjVwjWN2C3qfefUBhGwPs1GIbvoh1MPEmk0CrOl7sFzbmidQt1Tjtq2hpfLK.jpg" alt="" title="" class="object-cover bg-gray-100 rounded-sm md:rounded-md lg:rounded-lg" style="aspect-ratio: 16/9; object-position: center center;" data-corners="default" data-aspect="16:9" data-caption="" data-positionx="undefined" data-positiony="undefined" data-fullwidth="false" data-mce-src="https://cdn.durable.co/blocks/350FYjVwjWN2C3qfefUBhGwPs1GIbvoh1MPEmk0CrOl7sFzbmidQt1Tjtq2hpfLK.jpg" data-mce-style="aspect-ratio: 16/9; object-position: center center;"></figure><p>The photos from the celebration tell a story of togetherness. Members are gathered around tables, enjoying the afternoon, participating in the program, and sharing the space with one another. The event feels welcoming, active, and full of care.</p><p>That care is what makes VIP Seniors special. Community does not happen by accident. It is built through consistent effort, thoughtful planning, and people who are willing to show up for one another.</p><h2>Thank You to the VIP Seniors Community</h2><p>A special thank you goes to Joyce Jacobson for sharing the update and photos from the celebration, to Ms. Vicki for bringing music to the event, and to everyone who helped prepare, attend, and participate. The success of senior community events comes from the people who contribute their time, energy, and care behind the scenes.</p><p>To everyone who joined the celebration, sang along, shared a smile, helped with the event, or simply showed up to be part of the day: thank you for being part of the VIP Seniors community.</p>
